In a Nutshell: Hawkins is a gentle, sensitive boy who’s being brave in a big, new world. He’s still learning to trust people, and he shows small signs of courage every day. Once he feels safe, his sweet personality peeks through.

He’s spent the past 2 weeks recovering from surgery, so he’s spent a lot of time resting in his crate. He does not love his crate, he’ll bark for a while and needs some company to settle, but he can nap for a few hours once he’s calm. Being alone isn’t his favorite, and without supervision he can get into mischief, so he’ll thrive with someone who’s home often or can provide structure and support.

Potty training is progressing, and he hasn’t started going on walks yet. He needs patience, routine, and gentle encouragement as he gains confidence. Right now, he craves attention but isn’t ready for close affection, and that’s okay, he’s learning at his own pace. He’ll do best in a quiet, understanding home with someone willing to celebrate every tiny victory as he learns to interact with his world.awkins just arrived to us and is taking time coming out of his shell.
