Spongebob - I’m being adopted by my foster!

Spongebob’s foster is adopting them! Did you know our foster homes get ‘first dibs’ to adopt the dogs in their care (provided the home is also a good fit for the dog)? If you might be interested in fostering as a pathway to adoption, find more info here.

Age: 5 yrs

Weight: 21 lbs

Sex: Male

Breed Stated on Paperwork: Pug mix

Dogs: No, thank you!

Cats: Unknown, but foster guesses it might not be a match

Kids: No

In a Nutshell: Spongebob’s foster describes him as a “Spicy Meatball of emotions…80% of the time he’s Will Ferrell in Elf, the other 20% he’s more like Cornholio-mode Beavis” which is one of my personal favorite descriptions of our one of our foster dogs, ever. In other words: this guy is a character. And with a face like that, I really wouldn’t expect any less.

Spongebob is living with another dog in foster and doing well overall, but he can be overexcited and super playful in a way that not all other dogs will appreciate/tolerate. He’s still learning how to take cues from other dogs and can struggle when seeing them out on walks, but seems to do well one-on-one with a backyard intro.

He can be a bit sensitive to handling and appreciates predictable movements and touching. For this reason, he will do best in an adults-only home.

Spongebob is potty-trained and has done well when left home alone for a few hours, isn’t too noise-sensitive and could probably live in an apartment (though walks may be a challenge he needs to work on a bit). He is a total snuggler lapdog and loves to find a cozy spot near his people - he can be a bit of velcro dog, following you around and wagging his butt the whole time - so he’d probably love to have adopters who are home often and eager for a snuggly little weirdo in their lives.
